The Day & Results

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the 1st Annual Patrick Murphree Memorial Golf Tournament such a tremendous success!!! There were 23 teams (92 golfers – 89 men and 3 women) participating in the 4-man scramble format at Point Mallard Golf Course, grossing over $20,000!

The tournament kicked off just before noon on Saturday with registration and a delicious barbeque lunch provided by the Mallard Grille. During the registration process, each golfer was offered the chance to purchase 2 mulligans and a power drive for $20. Gift bags, containing tournament logo embroidered hats with magnetic ball markers, a sleeve Bridgestone E6+ golf balls embossed with the tournament name and Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning, were handed out. After some opening remarks and a quick run down of the rules, each team headed out for their first hole!

It took the teams about 5 hours under perfect weather conditions to complete the 18 holes. While waiting for all the teams to finish and the results to be determined, the golfers recharged with Domino’s Pizza, Pepsi Cola of Decatur and Valley Budweiser products.

After all the scorecards were tallied (any ties were broken according to Official USGA Rules), the field was divided in half to create the two flights. The 1st place team of each flight was awarded stainless steel watches with the tournament logo imprinted on the face, the 2nd place teams received $150 Callaway Golf Gift Cards and the 3rd place teams received $75 Callaway Golf Gift Cards.
